NSW:O'Farrell seeks Barangaroo goodwill

NSW:O'Farrell seeks Barangaroo goodwill

By Adam Bennett and Isabel Hayes

SYDNEY, Aug 8 AAP - NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell has called on Barangaroo developer
Lend Lease to show goodwill and scrap plans for a controversial harbour hotel in waters
off the Sydney project.

Relocating the hotel over Darling Harbour back to land is one of the recommendations
to come out of a government review of the $6 billion development released on Monday.

While the review found Lend Lease had planning authority to go ahead with the hotel,
the government called on it to move a planned 170-metre tower back onto the land at the
former ports site.

The state government will now negotiate the relocation through the Barangaroo Delivery
Authority (BDA), with Mr O'Farrell saying he had "great confidence" Lend Lease would agree
to the change.

"The review suggested that in order to show some goodwill Lend Lease consider moving
the hotel from on the harbour back onto land," Mr O'Farrell told reporters in Sydney.

"As someone who has always argued that including part of the harbour as part of this
tender was never intended, I think this would be a very good and welcome outcome for the
citizens of this city.

"I've never understood how a tender for a piece of land like this ends up including
part of the harbour."

Lend Lease chief executive and managing director Steve McCann said the developer would
"work closely" with the government to consider alternative options for the hotel - but
stopped short of committing to the move.

"In doing so we will be considering a number of different things, including our commercial
position, the design excellence of the hotel, and any impact on timing of the overall
development," Mr McCann said.

The executive director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Patricia Forsythe, welcomed
the government's recommitment to the project but said Barangaroo needed a stand-out development.

"There is no doubt that Sydney needs additional five-star hotels, there is no doubt
as well that to put Barangaroo on the map it needs to have an iconic development," Ms
Forsythe said.

The CEO of the Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF), John Lee, said Sydney was "a little
like Bethlehem - it's nearly full in terms of hotel occupancy".

The Barangaroo review - commissioned by Planning Minister Brad Hazzard in response
to community anger over the development - criticised the former Labor government and a
lack transparency around the project.

The review, conducted by Victorian planning experts Meredith Sussex and Shelley Penn,
found no major breaches in planning process but said the project had been marred by a
poor public consultation.

Former Labor prime minister Paul Keating said the review was a "complete rebuttal of
the distorted and fallacious claims" of those who opposed the Barangaroo project.

Mr Keating resigned from the Barangaroo Design Excellence review panel in May, accusing
Mr Hazzard of trying to muzzle him after he described Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore of
standing for "sandal-wearing, muesli-chewing, bike-riding pedestrians".

Ms Moore, who quit the BDA because she believed the public were being "railroaded"

over the project, said the review presented an opportunity "for new governance".

"I think the community has felt as though it had been ... left out of the process until
now," she said.

Qld: LNP takes legal action over election

Eds: updates with premier's quotes

BRISBANE, April 15 AAP - The Liberal National Party (LNP) has launched legal action
to overturn the election result in the Brisbane seat of Chatsworth, claiming vote fraud.

The application on behalf of failed LNP candidate Andrea Caltabiano was filed in the
Court of Disputed Returns on Tuesday.

Labor's Steve Kilburn, who won the seat by 74 votes, has a week to respond to the application.

The LNP claims that some people voted more than once and used the names of people who
were not entitled to vote.

The party also claims in court documents that some voters who were entitled to vote
were denied a ballot, and that the local returning officer undertook a count "in circumstances
where the integrity of the count could not be guaranteed".

Vote counting in Chatsworth after the March 21 election was shifted from a building
in the electorate to the electoral commission's headquarters, a move the commission said
was for "additional security".

The LNP had claimed during counting that the number of absentee votes was skewed towards
Labor and that it was possible that the names of dead people could have been used by people
to vote more than once.

Premier Anna Bligh said she understood the electoral commission would defend the action.

Ms Bligh said the ALP had not been involved in any irregularities.

"There are allegations being made that may relate to other citizens, but certainly
the Labor Party rejects any allegations that they were involved in any irregularities,"

she said.

The court has been asked to declare Mr Kilburn not elected and can then either declare
Ms Caltabiano or another candidate the winner or order a by-election.

Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake declined to comment as the matter was before the court.

The case has been set down for a mention in the Supreme Court on May 11.

FED: Drought sliced 10pc off agricultural production in 2006-07

Latest figures from the Bureau of Statistics show drought sliced 10 per cent off the
value of Australia's agricultural production in 2006-07.

The Bureau says poor crop production fuelled the downturn .. which couldn't be offset
by improved prices.

Total agricultural production was 34.2 billion dollars in 2006-07.

Cotton dipped 46 per cent to 514 million dollars .. while rice fell a whopping 80 per
cent to 51 million dollars due to an 84 per cent slump in production.

Wheat production was down almost two thirds with wheat-for-grain 51 per cent weaker
at 2.5 billion dollars.

Barley for grain fell 30 per cent to a billion dollars .. while sugar cane rose to
1.2 billion dollars off the back of a one fifth increase in prices.

Despite a fall in lamb exports .. the value of livestock slaughterings rose three per
cent to 12.4 billion .. buoyed by increased production of other livestock.

The value of livestock products grew slightly by one per cent to almost six billion
as the increased value of wool and eggs offset the reduced value of milk.

Milk fell by five per cent to 3.2 billion dollars .. wool rose by nine per cent to
2.3 billion while eggs were up by 13 per cent to 398 million dollars.

SYDNEY, Feb 13 AAP - The saddest Australians live in the heart of the country's richest
and most expensive city, while the happiest voters live in a poor rural electorate in
Queensland, a map of the nation's wellbeing shows.

The Deakin University study found the electorate of Wide Bay, one of the most disadvantaged
areas in Australia, contains the happiest people, while the saddest citizens are those
living in the seat of Sydney, The Australian newspaper reports.

The study examined people's wellbeing by considering standard of living, health, achievement
in life, personal relationships, sense of safety, connection to the community and future
security.

Eight of the top nine happiest electorates were poor and isolated rural communities,
while all of the saddest seats were metropolitan or outer metropolitan seats.

Sydney MP Tanya Plibersek said she was "sad" but not surprised to learn her electorate
contained the unhappiest voters in Australia, and believed it was because the seat was
"full of extremes".

Wide Bay MP Warren Truss said the study's findings proved "you don't need to be rich
to be happy".

Overall, Victoria was the happiest state and Western Australia the saddest, the paper reported.

CYBERSPORT.(SPORTS)(Review)

At least CBS has an excuse for showing us tape-delayed coverage of the Winter Olympics for the next two weeks. Nagano, Japan, is more than half a day ahead of us on the clock.

So what is real time? Even Spicoli knows it's the Internet.

(So if the Games are on their time, and I'm stuck in my time, wouldn't that make this our time?)

Dozens of Websites include some sort of Olympic element, but since so many overlap, it's not worth naming them all. Most are up and running in anticipation of heavy hit-traffic in the coming days. We'll stick to the gold-medal sites worth bookmarking:

The official Nagano site: http://www.nagano.olympic.org

When IBM paid $1 million so it could call itself the ``Worldwide Information Technology Partner of the Olympic Games,'' it took the title seriously. This is one seriously sumo-sized site, launched more than a year ago and growing with each click of the mouse. Biographies, history, panoramic views of the venues, entertainment - and results, with the IOC spin. Its most important feature might turn out to be the daily schedule of events since snow, fog and winds play havoc with everything and force hourly changes.

The official e-mail site: http://www.ibm.com/olympic/fanmail

About 500 athletes and coaches a day checked into the IBM Surf Shack during the '96 Summer Games in Atlanta for messages, e-mail and the opportunity to psyche out fellow competitors by spamming them before a big race. No guarantee your new e-mail pals will answer back, but reaching out and byting someone of note has never been easier.

The official CBS TV sites:

http://www.winterolympics.com

http://www.sportsline.com

The second site is the network-sponsored Sportsline USA, a viable competitor to ESPN SportsZone and CNN/SI in processing info and original content, even without the CBS affiliation. Of all the all-sports sites, this one come through best - if only to set up a live chat session with CBS' new snowboarding correspondent Kennedy - yup, the ultra-grunge veejay from MTV.

The official fun site:

http://www.sikids.com

It's not supposed to launch until Thursday, but ``the official education publishing sponsor'' of the Games gives the kids an excuse to goof around on an Olympic-related site to find stuff for that class project that was due yesterday. An audio language glossary will help kids learn to say phrases in Japanese, like ``Congratulations on your gold medal'' and ``Where are the keys to the Zamboni?'' (We could have used that last one at the hand car-wash the other day). There's the obligatory game, too. In this one, you help a snowboarder surf down Mt. Fuji. As he races against the clock, he dodges sumo wrestlers and avoids bad sushi (that's what the press release says) as he tries to grab medals. That's the American way.

Art of Digital Preservation seeks to save cyber heritage.(University of Portsmouth)

A group of experts is launching a project which aims to prevent historical digital material - including digital designs - from being wiped out permanently.

The University of Portsmouth is leading the Art of Digital Preservation initiative, which will take place over three symposiums, kicking off in June.

The project will be headed by Dr Janet Delve and Dr David Anderson from the University of Portsmouth. Anderson says, 'Interactive digital artworks, 3D visualisations and video games are highly complex digital objects which are not capable of being faithfully preserved over the long term using traditional techniques.'

As hardware becomes obsolete, software is often lost, unable to run on new machines. Where it can be saved, a 'migration' technique is used - which can mean adapting files to make them compatible, although, as Anderson points out, this is 'costly, time-consuming and complicated'.

He says that with 'sophisticated digital objects like computer games, this technique can break down'. Anderson believes 'virtualisation' techniques - abstracting information through a unit which sits between old and new hardware - are more effective.

Anderson believes the argument for preservation is made all the more potent by standing 'legal mandates' for national libraries to preserve digital data. Indeed, the British Library is one of the partners in the Art of Digital Preservation project.

Whatever the conclusions to be drawn from these meetings - which will focus on preservation solutions - the gatekeepers who choose what is preserved are likely to be the museums and galleries that already make decisions on non-digital cultural preservation, according to Anderson.

Poke co-founder Nicolas Roope, who has worked in the digital industry for 15 years, says, 'There is always a danger that the dominant voices rewrite history to inflate their role and influence.' He asks, 'What is the most salient and important [material] and who even remembers? It is the hardest question, but also the most interesting.'

Roope started out working with creative group Antirom in the 1990s and says its work 'uncovered some interesting truths about interactivity and would still serve as useful lessons today if all of that work was available to experience. But it's not.'

Roope says, 'Browser plug-ins are no longer compatible with the original files. Operating systems cannot run the original exe files. And this isn't just true of our work, it's true for the work of a generation, one which arguably laid the foundations for what interactive media has become.'

As well as preserving for the sake of cultural recording, Roope argues that understanding where digital designs came from helps us understand where the industry is. 'It also stops us from repeating the same mistakes,' he says. 'I still see so much work today that makes the same mistakes we saw and responded to 15 years ago, but those insights are buried under15 years of incompatibility, so no one can learn from them.'

There is an argument that, to a degree, the Internet itself is a digital archive, but tangible digital hardware objects will also need to be saved.

Kin co-founder Kevin Palmer says, 'How do you preserve arcade games - they can't always be stored on the Internet, the mother of all archives. Data has to be stored faithfully so it works on the right- size screens.'

Symposium schedule

* The first symposium, Simulisations and Visualisations, will be held at King's College London on 16-17 June

* The University of Glasgow will hold Software Based Art in autumn 2011

* Gaming Environments and Virtual Worlds will take place in Cardiff early in 2012

The Network Scanning Appliance operates on the Symbol Spectrum24(R) wireless LAN and allows scanning tasks to be unhindered by traditional host connections such as cables or very limiting point-to-point radios that allow a single user to roam from a single host about 100 feet. As a network-addressable scanner, the device leverages the investment in Spectrum24 wireless LAN architecture - which provides coverage to millions of square feet - by allowing hundreds of scanners to be used from a single base on the network.

Information collected by the Symbol Network Scanner is instantly communicated to a host computer, Internet or intranet via the Spectrum24 network. The Symbol Network Scanning Appliance is for scan-intensive applications and works in tandem with other wireless mobile computers, the Symbol NetVision voice over Internet Protocol and networked printers.

Workers are free to roam anywhere they're needed in diverse facilities such as distribution centers, postal depots, manufacturing plants, retail stores, corporate headquarters or throughout entire campuses.

For applications where a Spectrum24 wireless LAN is not installed, multiple Symbol network scanners can be configured to provide a multiple point-to-point network within a 250-foot radius. This provides customers with the flexibility of installing a mini- or temporary network.

In a warehouse or retail store, an operator can use the device to receive items off an incoming truck, scan items to putaway or pick, and use the Symbol Network Scanner for point of sale, inventory and gift registry. A forklift operator can walk away from the vehicle to scan items in aisles that may be accessible only by foot. Workers on the manufacturing floor can use a single scanner at multiple work stations, for asset management and time and attendance. Text and graphical messages can be sent to the device to direct workers' tasks, send alerts and ask for simple one-touch responses.

It includes Symbol's proven laser scan engine technology for outstanding performance in a wide range of environments and conditions.

The Symbol Network Scanning Appliance features outstanding ergonomic design for fatigue-free ease of use, including a two-finger, handle-mounted scan trigger for easy "aim-and-shoot" operation. The devices are Java-capable with the powerful Motorola PowerPC microprocessor and use standard development tools. It sustains multiple four-foot drops to concrete.

"Symbol has pioneered a number of bar code scanning innovations in the past 20 years, including hand-held scanning, extended decode range, integrated scanning and computing, engine miniaturization, two-dimensional scanning and wearable scanning and computing," said Boris Metlitsky, senior vice president and general manager, scanning systems, Symbol Technologies. "We have seen a growing demand for cordless connectivity across our scanner product line. While there will always be applications well suited for short-range point-to-point cordless devices, the Symbol Network Scanner is one technology direction our customers are considering."

Legal high review `too little too late'.

Efforts by the synthetic cannabis industry to clean up its act have been slammed by health experts as too little too late.

Up to eight industry heavyweights met yesterday after two brands _ Kronic Pineapple Express, manufactured by Lightyears Ahead, and Juicy Puff, sold by Cosmic _ tested positive for anti-anxiety prescription medication phenazepam.

Zaid Musa, of Enjoi Products, and Matt Bowden, who imports chemicals used in Kronic, called the meeting after the Herald reported Kronic was being advertised on mainstream radio last week.

In a statement yesterday, the industry announced that it would be cleaning up its act by making changes such as chemically testing all imported products to ensure there was no contamination. Product advertising on radio or television would stop and any advertising would only be at the point of sale.

But health experts and MPs say that is not enough. Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne was yesterday sceptical about the industry's motives, saying it probably had more to do with the impact on sales.

``When any group that has for years done absolutely nothing to help keep the users of its products safe suddenly wants to self-regulate, then you know one of two things has happened _ it has either developed a conscience, or it can see a drastic impact on its cash flow,'' he said. ``Call me cynical but I am suspecting the latter here. These people do not have a track record of responsible dealings.''

Amendments to the Misuse of Drugs Act would go before Parliament in the next few weeks, despite the industry's promises, Mr Dunne said.

Labour's associate spokesman for health, Iain Lees-Galloway, said the industry needed to obey the recommendations made by the Law Commission, which urged that retailers should have to prove the drugs safe before they were put on sale.

``Currently we have a system that uses the public as guinea pigs.''

Mr Lees-Galloway said that although the changes were a step in the right direction, they did not go far enough.

``Sure, they have said they will voluntarily test product coming into the country, but those tests will only determine the pharmacological makeup, not the overall safety of the product.''

The industry's self-imposed advertising bans might also not be very effective, he said.

``Again there are loopholes. Point of sale and internet advertising will still be allowable.''

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Medical Association is calling for tougher legislation to control the products.

Chairman Paul Ockelford said: ``These products can be sold until they're proven dangerous rather than assessing their risk before they're made available for sale to the public ... this is unacceptable.''

Irish couple's 2m hits; BLOG LOVEBIRDS BECOME INTERNET STARS WITH SHOW.(News)

Byline: MIRROR REPORTER

An Irish couple have become internet sensations and globally famous by uploading their daily lives on to YouTube.

Cork woman Anna Saccone and her Dublin fiance Jonathan Joly have been starring in their Truman-style show every day for the last year.

But the grand finale for the couple's two million web fans worldwide will be in September when they upload their wedding day special.

The Irish lovers - both 23 - celebrated a year of living their very normal lives online yesterday with their 365th episode.

Their series The Saccone Jolys has attracted millions of loyal fans from across Europe and America and has made its stars one of the most-watched couples in the world.

However, Jonathan said the secret to the show's success is simple.

He added: "I graduated college at probably the worst time ever and I was trying to look at a way of doing something innovative and unique and interesting and work in creative media. I was thinking about the best way of getting an interactive response from people.

"I thought about filming the boring stuff and the stuff that life is and the stuff that happens while you are having your breakfast but at the same time being slightly entertaining about it and people responded."

The YouTube lovebirds - who are set to tie the knot in September - met in April 2007 while they were in college in Cork and got engaged last year.

But instead of going about their daily business in private, they decided to share it with the rest of the world.

Jonathan gushed: "On an average day I wake up and have breakfast and I might walk the dog.

"When you're on autopilot and doing normal things, in the back of your mind is your inner voice. It's singing songs and day-dreaming about stuff and I like to express myself and I allow the inner idiot to come out."

He told the Colm Meaney Show: "People are moving away from television. Media is progressing and evolving into the online platform. People are looking to be more interactive and you can interact with us on Facebook and Twitter."

NTRsupport Helps Dragonfly Technologies Speed Remote Support from Cab in NYC to Mobile Executive En Route to Presentation in San Francisco.

MSPs and IT Organizations Adopt SaaS from NTRglobal to Deliver Instant Remote Support to Mobile Workers Outside the LAN

DALLAS and BARCELONA, Spain, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Managed service providers (MSPs), like New York-based technology consultancy, Dragonfly Technologies, are increasingly turning to on-demand remote support from NTRglobal. NTRsupport from NTRglobal helps MSPs ensure their customers have instant access to secure IT support, anytime, anywhere. "Internet-based next generation remote control tools allow organizations to reach a wider base of mobile end users who are working outside the LAN," said Terrance Cosgrove, Gartner research analyst. "Mobile users are more likely to need IT support than desk-based users, and they are much more difficult to support." In the case of Dragonfly Technologies the use of NTRsupport allowed the service provider to help a customer securely resolve a critical issue that ultimately helped the customer cinch a fourteen million dollar deal.

Dana Friedman, CEO of Dragonfly Technologies, said: "At 7PM New York time while in a cab, I received a support call from a client about to give a presentation for a fourteen million dollar deal in San Francisco. Her laptop couldn't launch any applications except a browser. I told her to go to our company Web site, www.dragonflytech.com., choose 'Get Help Now,' and I 'took over' with NTRsupport remote control shortly after she got to our Web site. Using a laptop and a mobile broadband card, I ran Task Manager, saw what was in memory, killed unnecessary processes, watched applications launch, and ran MSConfig to ensure that there were no lethal processes running. We got rid of the problem, briefly explained what had gone wrong, and what not to do again. She made her presentation and won the business. NTRsupport helped to save the day."

Can you believe she wore that dress? That's the fun of watching red-carpet coverage of recent awards such as the Golden Globes and Grammys and the upcoming Oscars: Tuning in not to see who looks good, but who looks bad. And while male celebrities certainly have their share of fashion faux pas, it's the famous women whom everyone talks about. These red-carpet fashion sites have it all covered.

Best dressed

www.people.com

People cited Beyonce as one of the best-dressed celebs at the Grammys, saying her glittering strapless gown with train showcased the R&B star and actress' curves.

Forte: Oodles of photos, just like the magazine, and lots of reader interaction, such as voting for fashion dos and don'ts. (More than 70 percent gave thumbs down to Madonna's corset-leotard combo at the Grammys.)

Faux pas: Little perspective, just reactions. Navigation: Click on the event name under Ongoing Stories.

"We see London. We see France. We see Teri Hatcher's underpants!" Now, who could stop themselves from reading E! Online's appraisal of one of the Grammys' worst-dressed women after a catty intro like that?

Forte: Fashion Police, including online voting during the network's live red-carpet coverage, and a snazzy website design.

Faux pas: No Oscars coverage yet? It's less than three weeks away (March 5).

Oscar preview theenvelope.latimes.com

In its Oscar fashion preview, the Los Angeles Times' the Envelope awards website noted that Charlize Theron wore "a short Dior frock" at the Golden Globes. "Will she dance again with Dior at the Oscars?" writer Elizabeth Snead wonders. "Maybe. But she did just wear a stunning Versace gown to the film's Rome premiere."

Faux pas: Scant coverage.

It wasn't a harebrained scheme, after all. Last week, the Walt Disney Co. made headlines when it traded the rights to sportscaster Al Michaels to NBC as part of a deal that included regaining the rights to the early-cinema cartoon rabbit Oswald. The character was originally created by young animator Walt Disney for a series of silent shorts in the 1920s that were distributed by Universal, now owned by NBC, and the deal brought the Lucky Rabbit back home, so to speak. That's what all the news accounts were about. Now, online Disney guru Jim Hill (www.jimhillmedia.com) has provided the inside scoop on the story behind that story. It turns out that new Disney CEO Bob Igers had planned to get Oswald back even before he became head of the company last year, when he read on the website Cartoon Brew (www.cartoonbrew.com) in January 2005 that Oswald products were huge in Japan. And now, Disney has big plans for its classic character that surely include more merchandising. "This film star of the 1920s is now going to be reborn as a hot commodity in 2006," Hill writes. Under the terms of the agreement, IntegraMed is committed to providing the Center with access to patient and business service offerings. Initially, the focus is on the Company's patient-oriented offerings including the Shared Risk Refund program and the Company's Internet marketing services. In addition, the Center can access a full portfolio of other products and services that the Company makes available to its network of affiliated fertility centers.

According to the Center's Koulianos: "... the market is becoming more competitive and we recognize the need to provide the kind of products and services to our patients that IntegraMed has pioneered successfully in other parts of the country. Aside from the patient oriented programs they offer, I am also particularly impressed with the quality of the physicians that IntegraMed has affiliated with around the country. It's clearly a group of providers we want to be associated with."

IntegraMed's network is now made up of 24 contracted fertility centers. These centers employ 140 physicians and PhD scientists in 79 locations across the United States.

Bloomberg Targets European OMS Arena.

Bloomberg, which rolled out a sell-side equity trade order management system last year, is aiming to create a global product by adding connectivity to Euronext, the Deutsche Borse's Xetra and the London Stock Exchange, and is planning to bring the first client live by the beginning of the fourth quarter.

"We'll be able to access these exchanges through an ECN such as Global Tradebook, but clients may not be able to directly access the exchanges themselves until the first quarter of '04," said Bloomberg's Robert Boylan. The system will first be integrated with Euronext, then Xetra and then the LSE, he said.

Bloomberg is looking to provide an offering that would be "an economical solution" to alternatives such as Royalblue's Fidessa, he said.

Bloomberg is the latest entry into the European order management system (OMS) market. Last month, Reuters said it was entering the cross-border European cash equity and equity derivatives area with Reuters Order Management for Exchange Execution, available on the Reuters 3000 Xtra desktop. The OMS was designed with Stockholm-based Orc Software, and will also be available through the vendor's Internet-based, mid-tier European Securities product, due for release in the third quarter. In addition to London-based Royalblue, other players in the space include Paris-based GL Trade and Stockholm-based OM.

Bloomberg's sell-side equity trade order management system, initially focused on the Nasdaq market, was rolled out last January at Wedbush Morgan, said Boylan. About 14 other market-makers are using the system, which is an alternative to the Nasdaq workstation, he said.

The product provides position management, risk management and order management, and is integrated with the major ECNs. Transactions are sent electronically to a user's back office.

"The true end game for us is to put Bloombergs on equity traders' and equity sales traders' desktops, where historically we've had a lot thinner presence," Boylan said.

Bloomberg also provides a portfolio order management system (POMS) for the buy side and a trade order management system for the sell side (TOMS) that is focused on bonds. There are about 600 to 650 firms using Bloomberg TOMS and POMS. Copyright 2003 Thomson Media Inc. All Rights Reserved. http://www.thomsonmedia.com http://www.securitiesindustry.com

-Nature & Decouvertes keen to acquire online retailers.

CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

8 April 2011 - French gift shops chain Nature & Decouvertes plans to acquire online retailers in an attempt to boost its sales on the Internet, the company's president Antoine Lemarchand told French business daily La Tribune.

According to the Lemarchand's estimates, online sales will account for nearly 20% of the group's overall revenue within eight years. The company recorded a 35% rise in e-commerce in 2010, which helped it withstand the crisis. Sales remained stable despite four openings last year.

Nature & Decouvertes was set up in 1990. Today, the company with a turnover of EUR195m (USD280m) is inaugurating its 80th outlet in France, located in Montparnasse, Paris. This is the group's seventh point of sale in Paris and the biggest one in the Ile-de-France region with a surface of 450 sq m (4,844 sq ft).
