Ruckus Wireless™, an innovator of advanced Smart Wi-Fi technology and one of the fastest growing suppliers of advanced wireless products, announced that it has been positioned by Gartner in the Visionaries section of its 2011 Magic Quadrant on Wireless LANs (WLANs) report.
In 2010, Ruckus added over 3,000 customers across all segments of its enterprise business with a customer base to date that has now eclipsed 5,500 worldwide. This strong growth is attributed to insatiable demand for more reliable wireless systems to cope with a deluge of Wi-Fi-enabled smart handheld devices finding their way into schools, hotels, hospitals and general enterprise environments.
In its recent "Market Share: Enterprise WLAN Equipment, Worldwide, 3Q10" report, Gartner also noted Ruckus Wireless as the fastest growing WLAN supplier for unit shipments of WLAN coordinated access points for midsize and large enterprises from Q3, 2009 to Q3, 2010, estimating Ruckus unit shipment growth of 95% during the period.
"The mobile Internet is transforming our industry, driving more stringent enterprise requirements for higher performing, more reliable Wi-Fi systems to support a greater density of users and latency-intolerant applications like voice and video," said Selina Lo, president and CEO of Ruckus Wireless. "This has been our primary focus as a company from the very beginning and we are now seeing the fruits of that focus."
In its 2011 Magic Quadrant for WLANs, Gartner spotlighted several key distinguishing factors that earned Ruckus the Visionary position, including: an aggressive 3G offloading strategy for mobile operators, continued successes with existing carrier customers and a broad indoor/outdoor product offering suited for a variety of usage scenarios. Additionally, Ruckus' technological differentiation, low price point and superior service and support were key contributors.
According to Gartner, companies placed in the Visionaries quadrant have demonstrated innovative solutions in one or more key areas of WLAN technology such as convergence, security, management or operational efficiency.
Gartner bases its evaluation on two sets of criteria: 1) ability to execute and 2) completeness of vision. The ability to execute measures how well a company sells and supports its WLAN products and services on a global basis. Completeness of vision focuses on the vendor's potential and points to its future likelihood of success.
Through the unique combination of adaptive antenna technology, 802.11n and dynamic meshing within a unified indoor/outdoor wireless LAN solution, network designers have consistently proven to deploy Ruckus advanced Smart Wi-Fi systems in approximately half the time, at half the cost with half the support overhead, required - all while delivering two to three times the performance, range and reliability over competitive alternatives.
