VIC:Rise in salmonella outbreaks

Victorian health department figures show a food poisoning outbreak at a sushi bar that
left 83 people sick and 19 in hospital is among a significant rise in salmonella cases
in the past two years.

However, the Herald Sun newspaper says local councils and the Department of Health
routinely fail to name the venues involved on a government's register.

In one of the worst cases, more than 100 people fell ill after eating at a sushi bar,
with some victims so sick they thought they might die.
